For the Birds
For the Birds” is a series of bird houses I made during my time at Monson Arts.
The designs for these birdhouses are based on plans I accessed through the organization Nest Watch. Nest Watch is a program which monitors the reproductive cycle of birds all across the country and which also provides comprehensive resources on best practices for bird box construction for a wide variety of species. These practices include everything from the interior dimensions of the box, the size of the entry hole, drainage and ventilation holes, as well as mounting height, placement, and direction.
The boxes I built are designed for three different bird species native to Monson, Maine. Including the Common Goldeneye duck, the American Robin, and the Boreal Chickadee.
