Moosehead

Based in Monson, Maine (with a second factory in Dover-Foxcroft), the Moosehead Manufacturing company produced high quality solid wood traditional American furniture. Over the years they earned a reputation for durable pieces lasting generations. They operated from 1945-2007 when they closed due to market pressure and intense competition from cheaper imported furniture constructed out of rubber wood and veneered products.

In Monson, the old Moosehead factory building still exists in a state of disrepair. During my time there, I was able to salvage some materials from the structure of the building and construct these three pieces. A vernacular tribute to the types of pieces that Moosehead Manufacturing Company used to produce.

I staged the pieces there in the abandoned factory building and left them to reintegrate into the site.
